Self-taught programmer, the book

I am 130 pages into the "Self-Taught Programmer" book by Cory Althoff and found that it is very sparse on the details. So far this book looks more like a 'crash course' compared to the the Python crash course book I previously read most of. I am a bit dissappointed in the content so far, but it looks like a good roadmap of things to learn. I think I should follow the broad ideas it covers and look at other sources for more details.

There were some things in the book that was useful to learn, for example the chapter on string manipulation and methods were new to me as the Python crash course book focused more on lists and dictionaries. Didn't know strings were iterable and each character had its own index. I also learned about the enumerate function that is used in conjunction with for loops to go through lists. Much easier to use enumerate() instead of keeping a count variable. However, the self-taught book didn't cover exactly how the enumerate function worked so I had to look it up online.

I keep trying to write a post everyday as the purpose of this blog is to keep track of my progress. Need to make it a habit to write even a single thing, however small the accomplishment is.
